Calling The People of Lokoja To Islām and The Sunnah
At Masjid Ibn ʿUthaimīn, our primary objective is to call the people of Kogi State in particular—and the people of Nigeria in general—to the worship of Allāh alone, and to adherence to the Sunnah of the Prophet Muḥammad -ﷺ-, upon the understanding of the noble Companions (the Ṣaḥābah).

Points Made In This Lecture:
💠 The definition of protests/ demonstrations.
💠 The affair of protesting originated from the Kuffār, unbelievers.
💠 Protests and demonstrations are not permissible in al-Islām as they oppose the Book of Allāh and the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allāh - صلى الله عليه وسلم -.
💠 The ʿUlamā' (scholars) of Sunnah are in agreement regarding the impermissibility of protests and demonstrations [scholars the likes of Shaykhs Ibn Bāz, al-Albānī, Ibn ʿUthaymīn, Muqbil al-Wādi'ī, al-Luḥaydān, Ṣāliḥ al-Fawzān, and others]. There is no difference of opinion.
💠 Those "scholars" who invite to protests care only about themselves, and will take any means to rebel against the rulers even if it will destabilise society.
💠 Protests contain disobedience to Allāh.
💠 The Companions and Tabi'īn never protested as a response to an oppressive leader.
💠 Even in the lands of the Kuffār it is not permissible to protest, so how much in the lands of the Muslims?
💠 Protests remove safety and security, and leads to the loss of lives and businesses.
💠 Take a look at countries who turned to protests. Are they stable today? Look at Yemen, look at Libya.
💠 Often in protests the goals and objectives of protesting are hardly achieved.
💠 The Prophets were from the most patient of the people. The Messenger - صلى الله عليه وسلم - remained in Makkah for 13 years and never once turned to protest.
We ask Allāh to bring prosperity, safety and security to our land, Nigeria.
And (remember) when Ibrâhîm (Abraham) said, "My Lord, make this city (Makkah) a place of security and provide its people with fruits, such of them as believe in Allâh and the Last Day." He (Allâh) answered: "As for him who disbelieves, I shall leave him in contentment for a while, then I shall compel him to the torment of the Fire, and worst indeed is that destination!"

(Lesson 1) Benefits from their explanations of the Ma’ná aṭ-Ṭāghūt by Shaykhs Ṣāliḥ al-Fawzān - حفظه الله - and ʿUbayd bin ʿAbdillāh al-Jābirī - رحمه الله -.
This class is primarily based on the explanations of Shaykh ʿUbayd b. ʿAbdillāh al-Jābirī — رحمه الله — and Shaykh Ṣāliḥ b. Fawzān al-Fawzān — حفظه الله —. Abū ʿAbdillāh brings benefits from their explanations of the text.
Key Points Covered In This Lesson:
The obligation of seeking knowledge
The obligation of disbelieving in Ṭāghūt and believing in Allāh, which in reality is the meaning of the Shahādah (Lā Ilah Ilā Allāh; none has the right to be worshipped in truth except Allāh).
The Daʾwah (call) of all the messengers to their people from the time of Nūḥ — عليه السلام — to Prophet Muḥammad — صلى الله عليه وسلم — was to worship Allāh alone and stay away from aṭ-Ṭāghūt.
The Muslim must deeply believe within himself or herself that only Allāh truly deserves their worship, and they must condemn all that is worshipped besides Allāh.
Ēmān (True Faith) in Allāh is to believe deeply within yourself that He is al-Ilāh (الإله), meaning He is the only One truly deserving of worship besides all else.
Ēmān (True Faith) includes making all of one's acts of worship sincerely for Allāh alone, and that your worship is not directed to anyone besides Allāh!

The Shaykh explains that devoted youth can be powerful callers to Islām and the Sunnah through their character and behaviour. Daʿwah through actions—like good manners and sincerity—can be more effective than speech, especially if a person’s words are not backed by their actions.
al-‘Allāmah Rabī‘ gives timely advice on how to invite laymen to Salafiyyah, with good manners, knowledge and gentleness.

Shaykh Rabīʿ advises the Muslims to focus on reciting and reflecting on the Qur’ān during Ramaḍān. Through understanding its meanings and acting upon its guidance, hearts are purified and souls are illuminated.
