Lesson 1 | The Meaning of Ṭāghūt of Shaykh Muḥammad b. ʿAbd al-Wahhāb | Abū 'Abdillāh Alfa | MIU

This class is primarily based on the explanations of Shaykh ʿUbayd b. ʿAbdillāh al-Jābirī — رحمه الله — and Shaykh Ṣāliḥ b. Fawzān al-Fawzān — حفظه الله —. Abū ʿAbdillāh brings benefits from their explanations of the text.

Key Points Covered In This Lesson:

  • The obligation of seeking knowledge

  • The obligation of disbelieving in Ṭāghūt and believing in Allāh, which in reality is the meaning of the Shahādah (Lā Ilah Ilā Allāh; none has the right to be worshipped in truth except Allāh).

  • The Daʾwah (call) of all the messengers to their people from the time of Nūḥ — عليه السلام — to Prophet Muḥammad — ‏ صلى الله عليه وسلم — was to worship Allāh alone and stay away from aṭ-Ṭāghūt.

  • The Muslim must deeply believe within himself or herself that only Allāh truly deserves their worship, and they must condemn all that is worshipped besides Allāh.

  • Ēmān (True Faith) in Allāh is to believe deeply within yourself that He is al-Ilāh (الإله), meaning He is the only One truly deserving of worship besides all else.

  • Ēmān (True Faith) includes making all of one's acts of worship sincerely for Allāh alone, and that your worship is not directed to anyone besides Allāh!
