About The Author:
His Name:
Abū ʿAbdillāh; Muḥammad b. Muḥammad b. Dāwūd as-Ṣinhājy (it can also be said as-Ṣanhājī)
His Death:
He died in the year 723. H, and he was born the year Ibn Mālik died.
His Status:
He was an Imām in the field of Lughah (Language).
His Madhhab:
- As there are different Madhāhib in Fiqh, there are different Madhāhib in the field of Naḥw (Arabic Grammar) — all of which return to two:
1. The Madhhab of The People of Baṣrah (Baṣriyyūn)
2. The Madhhab of The People of Kūfá (Kūfiyyūn)
- The Mahhāb of The People of Baghdād was a mixture of the Madhhab of the Baṣriyyūn and the Kūfiyyūn.
- In summary al-Imām Ibn Ājrūm belongs to the Madhhab of the People of Kufá (Kūfiyyūn). However, he has his own views of Masā'il. He would take from both the Madhāhib of the Kūfiyyūn and the Baṣriyyūn if he saw what either of them were upon as correct.
- This book was authored in the field of Naḥw (Arabic Grammar).
- The fact that this text is so widespread is from the signs of the Ikhlāṣ (Sincerity) of the Imām.
- al-Imām al-Ājrūm only penned down that which is needed by the beginner; which is part of why the scholars mention that it should be the Ṭālib (Student)'s starting point in studying Naḥw.
