The Obligation and Virtue of Jumuʿah: A Reminder For The Believers - Shaykh Ibn Bāz

The esteemed Shaykh, ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz b. ʿAbdillāb ibn Bāz - رحمه الله - said:

What is binding upon the believing man is to preserve it (the observation of the Jumuʿah Khuṭbah and Prayer) and be concerned with it, because Allāh has made it an obligation (meaning, a person is rewarded for acting upon it, likewise a person is under a threat of punishment for leaving it off without a valid excuse) upon the residents (of a place) every week in place of Dhuhr (prayer — on Friday). So it is binding that one gives concern to it and preserves it (by ensuring he attends it).

And on it (the Day of al-Jumuʿah, Friday), on this day, is a tremendous hour wherein the supplications are answered in it.

His statement – ﷺ: “the best day in which the sun rose upon is the day of al-Jumuʿah (Friday), on it Ādam was created, and on it he was entered into al-Jannah, and on it he was expelled from it. And on it is an hour which the a Muslim servant (of Allāh) doesn’t meet (it) and ask Allāh, the Mighty and Majestic, for anything, except that He gives it to him. And on it (Friday) The (final) Hour (as-Sāʿah) will be established.”¹
